whassup with the rilleys?

Seeing as how I am a faithful follower of the online tabloid, kerryandtom.com, I thought maybe I should return some news. Now that it is the new year (my resolution is that I am not going to get older this year -- think I'll keep it? Okay, maybe I'll just try not to LOOK older.) Kerry and Tom might be wistful at the thought of their loved ones from home and some real down home plumbing. I do admit I did not check in during the month of December. After all, I am a mom and we know what December means for moms. It means absolute chaos. So, assuming you are still well and somewhere far east of here, I'll check in again tomorrow (couldn't connect with your site today -- you having a server problem?), as I am having withdrawals from vicarious travel.
The Rilleys and Mackins are all grrrrrrreeaaat. Did you all know that Jimmy and his lovely wife, Meghan, had a baby boy, Liam James Rilley in August? He's a cutey and the spitting image of his dad. Freaky, in fact. We're hoping he grows into his ears and hands and feet. Billy is happy doing accounting things. I am happy singing in my first real rock band. Now that is way cool. And a fantasy at 41 -- hope they don't find out how old I am. LOL. Mckenna (5) is still running me ragged and charming everyone in her path. When you next meet her, hold onto your wallets. Cassidy, (9) just started a weekly podcast, of which she now has 2 entries. Link: http://web.mac.com/meremer When you find yourself languishing in some ho-hum exotic rice patty (sic), listening to Cassidy's podcast is a good pick-me-up. She dons the NPR voice quite well!
I guess I don't really have anything of substance to say after all! Hmpf. It all pales in comparison to trekking in Nepal (You had no idea that has always been a life goal of mind, did you? I'm not kidding!). Take care of those cute red shoes, Kerry!
Meredith (representing all the Rilleys)
P.S. the photos: Liam, Cassidy & Mckenna, the Mackins looking their best, the 4 of us holding Liam (not in that order). I hope I did it right and they are not too obnoxiously big, or anything. If they are, sorry!

Christmas in Brewstah

Merry Christmas, Kerry & Tom! We all had a blast - as we usually do - but we missed you both dearly. We wrapped a beard for Tom, though the dog got into it...

Hello Blog gods, I have answered your call...
So, there I was, a few days ago, googling myself (mmmm) as I rarely do (okay, a few times a day at least), and I saw that somene wanted to hear from me. Someone wanted me to tell them about myself on the computer! Someone wanted to sell my cd for only $1.99. Okay, well, maybe all of the above. The truth is, I miss Tom and Kerry and the FOKAT community. Goddammit, I miss them so much, I actually called them on my cell, to see if they might answer. When I heard Tom's monotone voice, a tear welled up in my eye. I left them a message. Did you guys get my message?
Anyway, a lot of things are happening in my world. The biggest recent change is that I moved in with my lovely girlfriend and am now BACK on the Upper West Side. It's been over 13 years, but Mama, your boy is home. I actually was a little skeptical at first, but am enjoying the vibe and the place a lot. I also got a new kind of working situation which suits me way better. I am teaching guitar a lot. In fact, if any of you want lessons, know someone who does, let me know. Then I have a part time job working at an interesting organization called The American Composers Orchestra. They have been around for about 30 years and help.. you guessed it.. American composers to get heard. So that's cool. I also teach on the guitar staff of Henry Street Settlement every Thursday. I've been teaching "rock band" to one 9 year old kid- the only person enrolled. His favorite band is Joy Division. No joke. What are these parents teaching their children these days?
In music releated news, the new Pete Galub album (as yet untitled), which features Tom's excellent bass-playing and voice is in fine form, but won't be finished til next year. An MP3 single is in the works, possibly for each song, but we'll see. the Annuals played a nice show a month ago with the Silos and Amy Allison. A funny highlight was that Freedy Johnston was in the audience and really dug it. If you knew me in high school and college, you would have known I was a HUGE Freedy Johnston fan, and still am to some degree. So there he was at the bar because a friend of his is a fan, and he tagged along. Wow, that was a little nerve-racking. He said we were great and I was an amazing guitar player, so that just about made my year.
FInally, who are these impersonators that simply call themselves ANNUALS? Has anyone heard this band? I hope they're at least really good. Might this mean the end of Pete Galub and the Annuals as a band name? A name I came up with in 1997? Just in case I have a backup name- Pete Galub and the Moils...
Tom and Kerry, and FOKAT I hope you got some sense of what I'm up to and are having the best time.. I don't think New Zealand can happen due to funds and lack of funding, but next year.. in Jerusalem..
love always

Marching Cigarettes
I put this very short film together for all the cigarette lovers and haters out there. My brother composed the music. I just figured out how to put this on a web page. I hope I'm not overstepping my posting bounds.
Tom and Kerry have heard of YouTube, right? How long have they been gone?
